Basic Terms of Pressed Gratings
Floor gratings are load-bearing, plate-like structural elements whose flat sides contain numerous through-openings arranged in a regular pattern, so that the free cross-section usually accounts for more than 70% of the total area. Floor gratings consist of vertically positioned load-bearing bars arranged parallel to each other and intersected at regular intervals by cross bars (transverse bars) that ensure their mutual positioning. Gratings are used as easily installable prefabricated load-bearing elements, especially for floor surfaces, platforms, walkways, stairs, etc. The main advantages of floor gratings are their good light and air permeability, high load capacity combined with low weight, easy installation and removal, and the fact that dirt cannot accumulate on their surface.
